Projects and Achievements
Hosting Platform
In the second semester of this year, my group in Skills Integration Lab 2 was assigned the task of creating a hosting platform for websites and web applications. My part in this was focused on maintaining our storage solutions and monitoring software. For example, TrueNAS and Uptime Kuma. I also helped create part of our API. All of this is made with containers in Kubernetes and Docker. What I learned from this project is how good teamwork and planning are crucial to a project this big. If not everyone does their part, the entire project can fall apart. It also taught me how to communicate with a client. This project is still ongoing.
Pool Chemical Control System
My group’s first assignment for Skills Integration Lab 2 this year was designing and building a pool chemical control system for our client. We decided to do this by creating a website that will use an API to contact a microcontroller operating a pump with chemicals for the pool. My part in this assignment was building the website with Bootstrap, Javascript and helping with creating the API with FastAPI. I also helped with the design phase. This project taught me how to design with the customer in mind and made me get used to the SCRUM methodology.
Hosting a Crud App on Azure
In the course Cloud Platforms, I hosted a CRUD app inside a container on Azure, Microsoft’s cloud platform. This was done entirely with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) via Bicep. The final result was an application that ran on 2 containers behind a load balancer. This assignment was a solo project. This project taught me more about the cloud, more specifically load balancing and the Azure platform.
Training Session for Seniors about Online Booking and Security Online
This was another project for Skills Integration Lab 2. This time with a different group, students of another course. For this project we had to contact a client and create a training session catered to them and our audience. In our case, a senior residence and its inhabitants. We gave our training session with a step-by-step plan on how to book a vacation online and how to know if a website is safe. This project has taught me how to explain a concept to people that don’t know the subject.
